Michelle Summers describes her work as the records of her life’s journey both lived and imagined. Her work initially presents itself a little world of playful wonderiousness. Often, however, there is a subtle, if not subversive, message beneath waiting to be discovered.

Michelle Summers is currently a professor of ceramics at Kent State University. She received her B.F.A. from New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University and M.F.A. from the University of Minnesota. Summers has taught in various ceramic communities and schools, and was an artist-in-residence at the Northern Clay Center, Archie Bray Foundation and Holter Museum. Her artwork merges many types of art and craft in the vehicle form of pottery.
